Sporting Club Fundraising Ideas: Maximise Your Profits with a Colour Run!
Are you searching for fun and profitable sporting club fundraising ideas? Look no further than hosting your very own Colour Run Event!
If you or your children play sport, then you’ll know how much fundraising plays an important part in supporting our local sporting clubs to buy equipment, pay for coaching and upgrade infrastructure.
A colour run fundraiser is a fantastic way to get your local community involved to raise funds for your sporting club. The kids will look forward to the colourful event as an end-of-season breakup party and you will be able to plan a profitable fundraiser that is easy to organise.
Why is a Colour Run the Best Way to Raise Funds for your Sporting Club?
It’s Cost Effective
Organising a colour fun run is very inexpensive, costing around $2 - $3 per participant. You can make your profits by:
a) Charging an entrance fee per participant e.g. $15 a ticket
b) Asking each participant to be sponsored by friends & family to raise funds
c) Sell accessories for the colour run such as t-shirts, headbands, wigs & sunglasses (you can buy in bulk online from places such as Alibaba, eBay, Amazon)
Unlike other fundraising companies, you keep 100% of the profits! We want you to raise as much as possible for your club, while supporting you over with over 5 years of experience in helping to organise colour runs. Quality Coloured Powder is affordable and accessible for everyone.
It’s Unique
We’ve seen time and time again that the novelty and fun factor of a Colour Run generates more in fundraising than a standard walk-a-thon, sausage sizzle, pie drive, movie or trivia night that have all been done before. It also provides for an awesome photo opportunity to share with the community and post on social media.
Great Physical Activity
As a sporting club, you’ll be looking for a fundraising event that promotes physical health. This a fantastic way to keep things active and health-focused while incorporating lots of fun and colour!
It Boosts Team & Community Spirit Whilst Being Inclusive
A colour fun run is not only great for physical health, but it helps to boost team morale and community spirit. Focus on getting everyone to participate and making the day inclusive for everyone with all abilities. Being covered from head-to-toe in a vibrant rainbow of coloured powder, it’s impossible not to smile and have a fun and memorable time!
Sporting Club Fundraising Ideas with Colour Powder:
1. Community Colour Fun Run
Get as many participants involved for your community colour fun run! Run, walk, skip and dance your way through a colourful course. Add some excitement to your course by adding some obstacles such as inflatables, mini hurdles, hula hoops, tunnels, water slides, parachutes, bubbles and foam – whatever you can think of! It doesn’t need to be fancy or complicated, just use what you have from the equipment shed and get creative!
2. Colour Dance Party
A colour dance party is a super fun way to spread the colour powder around while busting out your best dance moves! Whether you choose to include this at the end of your colour run, or as a stand-alone event is up to you. It’s very easy to set up, all you need is a playlist with all the best hits, some decent speakers and colour powder to throw up into the air! If you want to go bigger and better, set up a stage and DJ and include inflatable beach balls to bounce around the crowd.
3. Sports-Themed Colour Fun
If you want to do something a little different than a traditional colour run, then try incorporating your sport into a colour powder themed event.
Some examples include:
A colour powder football, netball or hockey match
A kids vs parents colour powder competition
A colour powder dance-off
Tips for Fundraising and Running a Successful Sporting Club Colour Run
1. Plan Your Event
Plan the event well in advance & meet with your team for regular updates. Set a goal for how much you’d like to raise through your colour fun run event. Use our free DIY Colour Run Guide to help you plan how much colour powder you’ll need for the number of participants you are expecting.
2. Promote the event
Spread the word the community about your fundraising event through social media, email newsletter, posters, and even contact your local newspaper or news team to write a story.
3. Seek volunteers
Ask for parents to help out. We recommend at least 4 helpers per colour station to throw the powder at participants.
4. Reach out to local businesses
Ask if they’d like to sponsor your event e.g. food vans with refreshments or prize donations such as movie tickets. You can also ask a local business to sponsor one of your colour stations e.g. Woolworths green colour station for $500 or become a major sponsor for $1000
5. Challenge participants to raise the most money for a prize
You can award prizes for the team that raises the most money to encourage participation and fundraising. Alternatively, you can employ a system where every $5 raised by a participant enters them into a raffle draw to win prizes (this way everyone will feel like they have a chance of winning).
6. Set up Photo Booths
We recommend setting up some photo booth stations around the colour run course for your participants to pose and take photos in front of. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, a white backdrop with colour thrown all over it will do the trick.
7. Bomb the Coach or Organiser
Set up a station to bomb your sporting club coach or organiser with colour powder for a gold coin donation. This is guaranteed to result in some laughs and great photos!
8. Ask a local hero to join the event
Reach out to a sporting hero to come and join in the fun or be an ambassador for the event. This will definitely generate some buzz and encourage community participation.
